Who We Are
The Greater Wheeling Coalition for the Homeless is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing housing solutions and supportive services to homeless individuals and families in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia (including Brooke, Hancock, Ohio, Marshall and Wetzel counties). The Coalition developed and continues to maintain a grant-based funding stream which ranked nationally in the top 30 percentile. The organization has grown from offering one program to over ten in three decades.
The Coalition founded and still leads the local Continuum of Care; a collective group of organizations and community members dedicated to developing solutions to permanently end homelessness. Through a formal governance structure and a Community Strategic Plan to End Homelessness, the NPCoC facilitates the cumulative support of all entities focusing on social issues and homelessness throughout the region. The Coalition leads all efforts to coordinate, operate, maintain, and expand the NPCoC, including the annual Continuum of Care application; a process that has netted over 11 million dollars for homeless programs since 1996.
